HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 5 (acn) Repercussions of sorrow and consternation for the
death of Hugo Chavez have emerged like a wave throughout the world,
acknowledging his leadership qualities, his political affiliation with the
poorest of the Earth and his dreams to achieve social justice in his
homeland, Latin America and humanity.
At the United Nations, Russia highlighted the figure of the head of state
as a great politician for his country, Latin America and the world.
It's a real tragedy, said Russia's permanent representative at the United
Nations, Vitaly Churkin, in a brief statement after knowing about the death
of the head of state, which took place on Tuesday in Caracas.
There was a minute of silence on Tuesday at the Peruvian Congress, and for
his part, Argentinean Vice-president Amado Boudou, expressed "the great
