09/26/13 - AIN - Top Political Vietnamese Leader at CDR Congress
HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 26 (acn)Vu Trong Kim, member of Vietnam's Communist Party
Central Committee was received in Havana by Carlos Rafael Miranda, member
of the Cuban Communist Party's Central committee and national coordinator
of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, currently holding
their 8th Congress.
The two political leaders exchanged views on the significance of the
congress of the largest Cuban grassroots organization, which will be
attended by Vu Trong and his delegation.
Miranda recalled that this year marks the 40th anniversary of the visit by
Fidel Castro to liberated areas in Vietnam, at times when the Vietnamese
people were still fighting the US troops. He also recalled the 50th
anniversary of the Cuba Solidaritiy-with-Vietnam Committee.
Vu Trong thanked for the hospitality he has received since he arrived in
Havana and the opportunity to again meet the Cuban people 16 years after
his first visit to the island.
Another 10 foreign delegations have confirmed attendance of the CDR
Congress in Havana, whose objectives include the updating of its working
style and the restructuring of its ranks to make its performance more
effective in Cuban society.
