10/12/09 - Prensa Latina (Habana) - Colombians Hail Cuban Cooperation
Paipa, Colombia, Oct 12 (Prensa Latina) The former governor of the Colombian
department of Boyaca Jorge Londoño extolled the positive results obtained by
Cuban collaborators in Colombia.
Londoño told Prensa Latina Boyaca has changed significantly since Cubans
arrived in this land to collaborate in the areas of education and sports,
obtaining positive results that give a hope to thousands of Colombians.
"Cuban cooperation has been the purest example of solidarity we have
received from a nation", he stressed.
Londoño also highlighted that more than 30,000 people learned how to read
and write using the Cuban teaching method "Yo, si puedo", which means an
important achievement, he expressed.
He also hailed the results obtained in the area of sports, thanks to a high
performance program implemented by Cuban collaborators.
Londoño made such statements on the eve of the 18th National Encounter of
Solidarity with Cuba and the third juvenile forum of solidarity with the
island, headquartered at Paipa City (Boyaca).
During the two encounters, those participating extolled the aid offered by
Cuba in different areas all around the world, and called upon all people to
defend the Revolution and its social project, which was described as a model
for humanity. They also demanded to put an end to the US blockade on Cuba
and the immediate liberation of the antiterrorist Cuban Five unjustly held
in US prisons.
