11/01/09 - Granma (Habana) - Cuba Again Receives Two Million Visitors
For the sixth consecutive year, Cuba has received two million visitors, and
this time 15 days earlier than in 2008, which is a reason for rejoicing by
the smokeless industry, reports the Ministry of the Tourism.
This achievement by our country acquires greater relevance considering the
world economic crisis and the health situation in the world. These phenomena
that have considerably influenced a decrease of tourist flows and have
caused the World Tourism Organization (WTO) to predict a 5% decrease in
activity globally.
In spite of such predictions, Cuba has experiences a cumulative growth of
3.9 % in arrivals. Among the offers highlighted are that it is a tourism of
peace, health, safety and trust for those who choose it. The zeal of the
workers of the sector is trying to raise competitiveness and efficiency,
especially when the high season begins.
